BLEPHAROPLASTY

The eyes are structures of great importance, not only for allowing us to establish eye contact with the world but also because they define the expression of the face according to the relationship they have with the eyelids.

Over the years, the development of excess skin and muscle in the upper and lower eyelids is inevitable, which produce an appearance of aging on the face and can affect the visual field if they obstruct the eye. Additionally, there is an excess of fatty tissue with the appearance of bags that make people adopt an aspect of fatigue.

PURPOSE OF THE PROCEDURE

Blepharoplasty is the surgical procedure that corrects excess skin, muscle and fat in the upper and lower eyelids, helping to restore a more youthful and renewed expression.

Blepharoplasty can treat:

• Lax and hanging skin that creates grooves in the upper and lower eyelids and hides the natural contour of your eyes.

• Excess skin in the upper eyelids that sometimes affects vision.

• Fatty deposits that manifest as eyelid bags

SURGICAL TECHNIQUE

Blepharoplasty is performed under sedation or general anesthesia through incisions that remain hidden in the natural grooves of the eyelids in order to leave almost imperceptible scars. Subsequently, excess skin, muscle and fat bags are resected according to the characteristics of each patient. At the end of the surgery, the wounds are faced with very fine sutures.

RECOVERY

In the normal process after surgery a certain degree of inflammation and ecchymosis (purple) in the eyelid region is expected. The cold compresses and the elevation of the head of the bed while the patient is lying down will help the speedy recovery, as well as the use of analgesics and anti-inflammatories. Sutures will be removed 5 days after the operation.
