GYNAECOMASTIA CORRECTION
Gynaecomastia is the enlargement of the mammary gland in men that can occur from different causes. This condition produces an aesthetic deformity in the thorax, giving a feminine appearance that can cause psychological disturbances in people.
PURPOSE OF THE PROCEDURE
The goal of surgical treatment is to remove excess fat and glandular tissue in the breast region, to give the chest a masculine appearance.
SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Gynaecomastia correction is performed under general anesthesia. The first step consists of extracting excess fat and glandular tissue using ultrasound-assisted liposuction. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves that allow fat and glandular tissue to be liquefied to later be extracted using a negative pressure system. In some patients it may be necessary to do an open extraction through an incision in the areola depending on the firmness and size of the breast tissue.
RECOVERY
After the procedure, inflammation of the treated area is normal and bruises may occur. They usually disappear after three weeks. It is a procedure that requires a full rest of 2 to 4 days. After that period of time you can restart your work activities without physical effort. You should wear an elastic belt for a period of 6 weeks to promote adhesion of the skin.
