RHINOPLASTY

The nose is a dominant feature of the face and plays an important role in its overall appearance. Its shape is determined by hereditary patterns and usually has specific characteristics according to race. Additionally, it presents individual variations in some anatomical structures such as: the prominence of the nasal hump, the definition of the tip and the width of its base among other aspects. The nasal appearance can be altered by trauma, with important aesthetic and functional sequels.

PURPOSE OF THE PROCEDURE

Rhinoplasty is a  surgical procedure that seeks to improve the appearance and shape of the nose, giving a more harmonious appearance to the face. Additionally, nasal surgery can also correct breathing problems caused by structural changes in the nose.

In BELLMED we understand that in addition to giving aesthetically pleasing results it is also important to give natural results, which is very important in nose surgery.

Rhinoplasty can modify and improve:

• Nasal Length

• Width of the nasal base

• Profile of the nose: nasal humps or depressions

• Nasal tip

• Nostrils

• Asymmetries or deviations

SURGICAL TECHNIQUE

Rhinoplasty can be done in a closed way with incisions inside the nose or openly with incisions inside the nostrils and at the level of the columella, the decision of the approach will depend on the anatomical characteristics of each patient. After the incisions, a dissection of the bones and nasal cartilages is performed, which are resected or remodeled to give the planned result according to the facial analysis of each person. At the end of the surgery, the incisions are faced with fine sutures and the nose is covered with bandages and a splint.

RECOVERY

It is recommended to complete the rest days after the procedure to avoid intense physical activity and direct exposure to sunlight. In some cases, plugs are left inside the nostrils, to protect and support the new structure during the recovery and healing process.

Usually the plugs are removed within the first 72 hours after the procedure and the splint one week after the procedure. You should keep in mind that the inflammation of the nose can last several months or even up to a year, so the final results will be assessed once this period has elapsed.
